Common Misconceptions About Drug Charges
Interviewer: What would you say are some of the common or more common misconceptions that your clients have when they’ve been arrested for a drug charge? What are some of their common misconceptions when they come to talk to you?
John Reade: They think if they gave drugs to someone, it does not count as delivery because they did not get any money for it. That is one misconception that I have heard of.
Interviewer: If someone’s been arrested for a drug crime, whether it’s possession or intent to sell or distribute, what are some things that would help their case?
John Reade: The first thing, as I previously mentioned, is to not talk to the police officer, and number two is not to give consent to search.
